Who is to blame? That's a tough question. Is it Aramark, the service provider, or William Penn the School District? Both have been warned of the dangers that are present, but neither have taken decisive actions to rectify them. When a manager confronts them about it, that manager is quickly transferred to another account so far away, he is forced to quit his job. When asked about it, Aramark denies the accusations, which brings me to the point of dedicating this page to anyone attempting or thinking about hiring Aramark as their service provider. Even though many dangerous things have been pointed out to Willaim Penn School District, Dana Bedden and Joe Otto refuse to look into these very dangerous, and sad conditions claiming the District is over spent.
Although the borough of Darby, Pennsylvania isn't the richest borough in the State, loving parents have the same rights as other parents to want their children to be safe, especially when they attend school. Unfortunately for this unsuspecting township, the school District that provides this safe atmospehere, isn't doing the job too well.
William Penn is an eleven school district, run by Superintendent Dana Bedden, and COO Joe Otto. This district has repeatedly faced a difficuly challenge with its lack of money, but a well presented cut back statement from yours truly went unanswered, and obviously uncared about.
Concerns have been raised about the lack of safety these children have while attending school, mainly from falling ceiling tiles due to leaks in the roof that haven't been fixed, to asbestos tiles in some schools, to sprinkler systems that were turned off for one reason or another.
Whether it be lack of money, lack of caring, or lack of respect for the families that live here, the William Penn School District owes the parents and community a response to these and other accusations, and not just a blank stare. Many letters have been sent via email to the School District, as well as their service company Aramark, who gets paid in the range of $350,000 a year to handle these types of negative results.
Many complaints have been lodged against Aramark, from sexual abuse, to ripping off paychecks, to transfrring people that they wanted to quit. These are all documented, and enclosed on this site for your reference. "Someone has to claim responsibility," says one ex-worker who wishes to remain anonymous. "Aramark certainly won't take that responsibility."
Parents of the district should be made aware of the negligent and distrubing troubles the district is having, so that they, and only they can make the decision that is best for them and their child.
As the ex maintenance manager of this highly disrespected school district, I can talk first hand of the negligent effects this school district has. When I attempted to make a difference, I was transferred to, what Aramark call, "an account" that was 121 miles away and cost $25 a day to get to.
