We must make a stand!

I suppose starting at the beginning would be beneficial for all those unfamiliar with Aramark or William Penn, but I can’t help getting disgusted when I think about the sham Aramark is pulling at the William Penn School District. Don’t get me wrong; the district itself is at fault also, for being the bozo’s they are and using Aramark, but someone in that office at Greene Avenue has to be making enough money to realize the theft going on by Aramark. Of course, all of this is just one person’s opinion, something I’m legally entitled to do, and also qualified since I was in fact the maintenance manager for a period of a year.

My immediate supervisor, Rich Ulmer, was the ringleader of the Aramark swindle, but he won’t say a bad thing about the company when a non-Aramark employee is around. When Oliver Delgado took over as the District Manager, I found out first hand what Ulmer was like, but that’s here nor there. Many times it was stated that he was just there to smooze (and I know its not a word), Joe Ottos ass, and make sure Bedden kept the contract. Most of the time I heard, “Ottos an asshole, but we need him to sign the contract, but that was followed by, “He just wants to make it to retirement before anything major happens.”

Many times, Ulmer went to gatherings outside the company work hours, (which for Ulmer were about 3 hours a day), but never if Joe Otto himself wasn’t attending. Many times the group from Green Ave went and met at Casey’s, and Ulmer would only go if Otto was wearing something sexy and sleek. Ulmer hated several of the Green Avenue workers, including Ursula Willis, Rap Curry, Dr. Geenfield, and Tom the transportation director. He hated these people but never showed it. He had to kiss their asses so they didn’t put a bad word in about Aramark.

Ulmer thought Otto was the biggest ass around, but there wasn’t much he could do since Otto was used to being bought by Aramark with fancy trips and inside gifts. All I heard for the year I was there was, “Otto is gone in a year or two when he retires and he just don’t care.”

Ulmer was a Jeykl/Hyde personality. Nice one day, totally opposite the next. He would smile at you one second and be nasty assed the next. I called him on it once, and he actually apologized leading me to believe he was bipolar. Nothing wrong with it, but everyone else around has to suffer.

Ulmer was the boss, and he made it known. Everything had to go through Ulmer even though Ramirez and me were the managers. If he didn’t know about something, he would freak out. He went on vacation twice in my year there, and both times called in every single day, at least ten times a day. No shit, he wasn’t getting any at home so he must have been turned on by work. I was hoping it was work and not my hot little ass.

Speaking of gifts, for a year I felt Ulmers pockets were being stuffed with green gifts, especially when he would hire contractors that he knew all his life, even with a grounds crew the district was paying. He would hire outside HVAC guys too, even though we had two in house HVAC men. Yeah, he was getting paid off the record, but what was anyone going to do. He and Otto were making mega bucks on District money, and the taxpayers have no clue why the district is so broke.

That brings me to Bedden. I liked him as a superintendent, but what the hell is he doing with yet another job hunt? How can anyone trust or want this guy when he’s making it so well known he wants out. And what the hell is he doing for the $150,000 a year he makes? He can’t see the district is being scammed by the Otto-Ulmer combo? He’s the Superintendent for fuck’s sake. Okay, so he’s gone as of today. He got the job in GA and I have a few good words to say to him. “Good luck, and don’t let the door smack you in the ass.”

When I first started there, Bedden had dreams that would make his momma proud. I know I liked his plans, but who was I? But what happened in the following year blew my mind. We were told not to spend any money, which I understood, yet they would pay workers to come in and shine floors and cut grass on Saturdays and Sundays. The workers were saying they couldn’t do it during the week, even though I proved them wrong. Duh Bedden, I don’t have a Doctorate and don’t want one, but the damn blind dude down the corner could see that one.

Of course who can forget Oliver DelGado? He’s a boy wonder in a diaper with a load. At five foot absolutely nothing, he wants to be a man but just can’t seem to grasp onto the proper way of doing it. I personally think he has a thing for Ulmer, but hey, who was I to condemn it. I always thought he should just go for it, and maybe the managers could do their job. I swear I saw an exchange of cash between the two at one point, but like normal, I was told to ignore the obvious and continue keeping my desk cleaned with me feet.

Hell, why else would Ulmer still be employed after being caught having the grounds crew going to his home in Springfield and plowing it on snow days? Who was paying them? It was overtime the district was paying, errr I mean, taxpayers were paying.

At Christmas time, the skies light up under Ulmer’s office. Gifts poured in as cards get tossed but the stuffing inside gets pocketed. Did I mention I never once got a bonus but Ulmer did? I got a frigging box of $2 chocolates. Ulmer probably pocketed around a thousand and I get a box of chocolates. That’s when all the outside contractors divvy up with Ulmer and bless him with a small donation for calling them during the year.

I know he was making money on the gas mileage he was claiming too, which was always over a $100 more than I was reporting. Somehow, a person that always took off, never went anywhere, claimed all this mileage. Hmmm, maybe I should have been dishonest, it would have got me farther I assume.

Okay so now we can only ask why Aramark, the company, has so many bad reports about it floating around the Internet. My site has about a hundred of them, but there were so many, I would need more web space and faster hands to list them all.

Reports from Aramark picking meat and other food up off the floor and serving it, to the Aramark crew emptying used milk into a new carton and reselling it. There are reports on price increasing, salmonella poisoning, to entire school districts wanting Aramark gone.

A question was asked of me. “Am I doing this to get back at Aramark?” The answer is quite simple. “No I am not.” I am doing it because people like Oliver and Ulmer need to realize that jobs are scarce. I will stop and take down my site when and only when these two birdbrains are ousted as the people in charge, and the William Penn School District makes safer schools so no children are hurt. Until then, keep coming back for more stories, headlines and truth.
